Calcium Carbonate

What is Calcium Carbonate?

Calcium carbonate is a chemical compound with the formula CaCO₃.s.
Calcium carbonate is a common chemical compound with the formula CaCO₃. It exists in two main forms for industrial use: un-coated and coated. The fundamental difference lies in the surface treatment of the calcium carbonate particles.

Un-coated Calcium Carbonate

Due to its lower cost, it is used in applications where surface properties are less critical. This includes industries like paper (as a filler to increase brightness and opacity), paints, construction materials (cement and mortar), and as a dietary calcium supplement.

Coated Calcium Carbonate

It is preferred in higher-performance applications, particularly in the plastics and rubber industries. It is widely used as a filler in PVC pipes and profiles, cables, and various molded plastic parts. It is also used in high-quality paints and coatings.
